week 10 Financial Statements

The financial statements were actually a lot easier than i thought they would be. I didn't mind doing it as much as i thought i would and i actually learned alot. It was good to see it all broken down in-front of my face like that. I know that they numbers that were generated we not really realistic but in the future hopefully they will be. I have not worked with excel very much and i didn't know that it would calculate everything like that and constantly change for you when you re entered your numbers. I think that was the best thing about the financial statements is that you can constantly change it and fix it to your needs for that specific moment.

week 10 photo challenge

This photo was taken with a Nikon D90. I wanted to take a food shot that
was from the eyes of the person eating it. I took a photo of a half-eaten pie
with the fork still in the pan. I used my depth of field to put an emphasis on
the inner pie and the pie on the fork. I wanted to put a glass of milk in there
so that it really feels like you’re the one sitting there eating it yourself. I
did not do any post work in Photoshop and this was taken all in camera. I like
how the table drops out of focus in the back of the frame and I think that the
detail in the crust it really nice. I used 2 strobe lights one with a soft box
and one with a grid.

40 under 40 week 9

Where i plan on being when i am forty is owning my own studio and being financially stable so that i do not have to work constantly to keep up with bills for my business and my personal life. I want to be able to live conformably without having to pinch pennies to stay afloat. It is scary to think about things like this because currently i am only 23 and i don't have a job or a regular paycheck coming in. My parents help me a lot and i am scared to think that i am going to have to do that for my children to. I want to be able to buy nice things, have my own house, and live a nice life. In the next 17 years i have to work very hard to be able to accomplish the goals that i have set for myself in order to live the way that i want. I think there are going to be many hardships up ahead but being persistent and strong enough to be successful is the recipe that is going to help me in the long run.

week 9 photo challenge

I took this photo with a Nikon D90. I think that
it is news worthy because it is Freemont Street in Las Vegas and there is always
stuff going on in this area. Whether it be a fight, a fe3stival, and outdoor
band there is always something in the news or paper about it. So my concept for
the newsworthy photograph was to take a stock photo that would be able to be
used multiple different times for multiple different stories. A newspaper could
buy this image and reprint it as many times as they want which means it’s
cheaper for the publisher. I think that for that type of business it’s a great
idea to think about things like that. Another thing that I like about this photo is
that there is a lot of detail for the time of day and the amount of data in the
photo.

week 8 photo challenge

I took this photo with a Nikon D90. I used a macro lens and I
wanted it to be in black and white with a little color. I think that this is a
beautiful photo because the color in her eye pops so much. I wanted to capture
me in her eye taking the photo. I think that this is a very interesting concept
and I love the idea of being able to see this environment that someone is in,
in their eye. I chose the model that I did because she does have such beautiful
eyes. I desaturated her skin in Photoshop and then painted in the black around
her eye. I then proceeded to up the saturation in her pupil so that her eye
colors would really stand out. I think that the colors in her eye are
incredible so I really wanted to emphasize that. Another thing that I did in Photoshop
was increased the sharpness in her eyelashes which made them darker and stand
out more as well. I would love to do a series like this because I want to play
around with color and different eyes.

week 8 Is she fair game?

I think that people who are famous, doesn't matter for what are fair game for photographers. If you are going to put yourself out there like that then i think that it is completely fine for people to take your photo. One thing that i dont agree on is the way that some people go about getting those photos. I dont like photographers who do things that are on the moral line and will do anything, even things that are illegal, to get the perfect picture.

Week 7 Photo Challenge

This photo was taken with a nikon d90. My lens was a 80-105. I used flash on camera to get the paparazzi look. I wanted it to look like i just captured a famous rich person who was caught off guard getting out of there expensive vehical. I liked this shoot i thought it was fun to try and get an interesting shot in this manner. I don't ever take pictures like this just quickly with flash on camera but i thought that it was an interesting way to take photos.

Photo challange painting with light

This photo was taken with a nikon d90. The lens i used was a 80 to 105. The way that i did this was i took a laser pointer and painted this plastic flower with it. I think that it was about a 30 second exposure. I think that this assignment was fun and i really enjoyed to see what you can do with light and a longer exposure. I plan on experimenting with this more and see where it takes me because i think that you could do alot of really cool things with this.

Week5 Race horses not unicorns

The business I am going into in fashion and portraiture photography. The work that I enjoy doing is more of an edgy vibe and I like the pinup/tattoo. I also like the artsy type of a vibe so those are the type of people that are going to be my target market. The thing that I like about living in Vegas is there is a big audience for that. I think that I could do well in that field here in Las Vegas. There are a lot of people who like things like that more in the downtown area. In my business I will be working alone and sometimes I will be using my friends to help me if it is a big job. I am also going to retouch my own photos and having printing packages if that’s what the client wants. I do not really enjoy doing wedding and sports so I will be trying to stay away from that type of work. I will be mostly working just myself and I will be doing almost everything myself. I don’t mind working for long hours because it is just myself. The printing packages I will be offering to my clients will be extremely nice, because you can do multiple different things. You can print on canvas. You can get metal prints mounted. Or you can get you prints on aluminum. The standard prints will be pretty inexpensive. I will cater more to the offbeat individuals who are under 40. I think that most photographers want to do clean, beautiful, crisp, cookie cutter work. Since I don’t do that I think that I have an upper hand in the field because I am taking on the clients that are also artists and who have been forgotten about by the average photographer.

Who won the superbowl? Week 5 Extra Credit

Who won the Superbowl?

The Superbowl was pretty good this year. The giants won and really pulled a comeback after the halftime show. The main thing that I watch the Superbowl for is the commercials. The commercials were great this year. My favorite commercials were The Volkswagen commercial where they are showing the commercial and then they pan out into the cantina room in starwars, Then you see Darth Vader, it was a great commercial. Another one I really enjoyed was the ferris Bueller commercial it was comical because he was doing the same thing he always does by calling in sick to work. It was clever because they didn’t say Bueller they used his real name, brodrick. The last commercial that was my favorite was the dog weego, who was a rescue dog that would bring you a bud light every time you said here weego. I thought it was very clever and I also liked the fact that at the end of the commercial it said help rescue dogs. I liked the halftime show. The thing that I thought was interesting was the people that I was around were all complaining about the halftime show. I heard that there were too many dancers, that MIA and the other performers besides Madonna didn’t have enough time with the mic, and that there was just to much going on visually to enjoy her performance. I did some reading after the Superbowl last night about the MIA middle finger usage and the fact that she said S*#^ on tv. I also read about how NBC apologized to their viewers and said "There was a failure in NBC's delay system," spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement.( Quote from http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/nfl-nbc-apologize-for-m-i-a-flipping-middle-finger-at-halftime-show-20120206#ixzz1lcPmyepD)

Four Photo websites Week 4

When you first go to her website i didn't like it, i thought it was mediocre and unprofessional, but when i actually got to her website i actually really liked it. I was shocked that her work was as good as it was because i didn't like her entry to the website. She does beautiful work and i really liked her full screen photos.
This website was very similar to the one above. I do like the layout but i thought that it was not as good as the other site. I don't like the blue bars that are on the outside of the photos. Another thing that i don't like is that some of her photos don't look like they are very good quality maybe she should upload bigger files so they are better quality.
I really like the layout of this site. It is fun and perfect for child photography. The one thing i dont like is the writing on the top of the site, and i hate the music. A lot of people who go to websites and immediately close out because of the music. It turns people off when they go to your website and hear music.
I cant stand this photography website. I think that it looks tacky and not professional at all. I cant stand the look of it. I don't like the font, i don't like the glow on the letters, and i hate the film strip on the top. I don't like the way he is displaying his photography, i think that it looks horrible when you click on the tabs to see his photography.

Photo Challange Week 4. Wedding

I shot this photo with a nikon d90. I wanted to shoot something simple but beautiful for the wedding challenge. One thing that i have relized with shooting weddings is that flowers and very important for weddings. I love the beautiful flower arrangements that people get for their weddings. I have shot a couple weddings before and they are diffrent than any other photography job you can get. They are extremely important and everything has to be perfect. The main thing is that you get everything the family and the couple want. You can not screw up because you can not recreate the wedding. You cant stage that stuff, the moments that happen between the bride and groom, the moment the mother of the bride is crying, and the moment that your crazy aunt rita dances with one of the groomsmen. The are so many things happening at weddings you have to keep your eye out for eveything and you have to be on top of your game.

week 4 Eoc 3 Scary legal issues.

There are many things that are scary about running your own business. For example one thing that scares me about running my own business is there are a lot of liabilities. If you run your own studio or business if something happens on set and someone gets hurt then that lands on you. Also in that situation you could easily be sued and that might take down your whole business. You are liable for everything that happens. Another thing that scares me is if i open my own business then if i don't get regular business in i could go into debt and go under with nothing but bills to pay for something i don't have anymore. That can put you in financial ruin. One other thing that scares me running my own business is that if you mess up on set that is your business name, your not just an assistant. You are your own worst enemy and if you tarnish your name but not doing things correctly you are only hurting yourself. That is the scariest thing for me.

Photo Challenge Week 3 sports photography

Sports photography is really difficult. I don't enjoy it at all, but being a photographer i love a good challenge . The one thing i didnt like having to shoot through the glass, because i wasnt allowed on the ice. It is difficult to keep up with the athletes that are playing because everyone is moving so fast. There are little breaks but most of the time they are contantly moving around. Another thing that was a difficulty was the lighting. I couldnt get my shutter speed fast enough for the lights in the ring. I couldnt use flash because it would have messed with the windows so alot of my photos were blurry. For this being the first time i shot sports i thought that i got a couple good photos.

Photo Challange Week 1 Self Portrait

My self portrait was taken with a nikon d90. i wanted to do a fun photo that showed i am weird and quirky. I chose the blue lights in the backround because they are bold and so am i. I used a tripod to take this and it is really difficult to get a result you like when you are not behind the camera actually taking the photos. I really like this picture and im glad i did finally get the result i wanted. I took a couple hours but i got it.

Where am i, Where am i going?

As of right now im not really anywhere. I don't have a job, im not in a relationship, and i dont have very much money. I am just trying to establish myself as a professional and a person. I am getting ready to graduate and im scared because i dont really have anything planned after im done with school. Its going to be hard to find myself when im done with school. I want to try and work in the downtown art district but i don't really know what i want to do with my life. In ten years i want to be an established photographer who is making money and i want people to know my name. I don't want to be mediocre at what i do. I want to be great. One thing that i have learned from moving from Nebraska to Las Vegas is that the world of art is fast paced and exhausting, but it is very rewarding as well. I like that. I want to be in a city that is quick and always changing because then i can change with it. One thing i was thinking about is i would love to do promo shots for movies and television. I would have to move to LA for that and i would love to be able to do that because i love that type of work.

Crime Scene

I took this photo with a nikon d90. With a 18 to 105 lens. I used fake bullet holes and blended them into her skin with photoshop. In photoshop i also desaturated her skin and added a blue tint to her skin. I also used flash on camera because i wanted the look of a crime scene photo with harsh lighting. On location like that the photographer would most likely use flash on camera. One thing that i have learned when researching crime scene photography is they need alot of light in order to capture all the evidence so they can try and find the murder. They need to capture everything for evidence. The smallest detail can help in a case. Thanks to Elly Carroll for being my dead model she did great.

Haute Couture

Why is Haute Couture relevant? Haute Couture is an incredible art form that i personally think is absolutely beautiful. I think that it would be so incredible to photograph something that georgeous. When looking through photos of HC i feel that its like a dream. These garmets create a fantasy that you dont see in everyday life. HC in photography helps set new trends and the photography aspect shows off the artists work who created the garmet. The person who put that peice together is an artist as well so when taking a photo like that you are helping that artist show what they have created to the world. I think that HC is important because now a days we just wear of the rack clothes and HC is handcrafted one of a kind art that is made specifically for the person that is wearing it. I think its incredible.

My Voice

My Voice
My name is daniella Casey and im a portrait/fashion photographer. I
currently go to the Art Institute and can not wait until I am in the field
creating what I want. I think photography sees things that your eye would pass
over. It is my outlet into the feelings that I want to share with the world. I
see things differently and I want to portray that as best I can. When I pick up
a camera I block out everything but that moment and photography lets me explore
the world and lets you see it through my eyes. I have been doing photography for
6 years and I mainly create portraits. I do enjoy shooting many other things as
well. I love everything about photography and I want to continue my studies in
the field for a long time. I want to work with incredible subjects and show my vision to the world. I think that it is better to do something that you love than hide your true self. That
is why I am lucky because I found my true passion. I think that someday I would
like to own a studio/gallery so that I can help other struggling artists get on
their feet.
